I started blogging many years back and have been writing posts at varied intervals. Having the blog on Google’s blogger platform had its own limitations. I failed to notice those limitations until I saw many people having their own self hosted blogs and the freedom they had to customize it. Also rashmiandi.com inspired me to move my blogger blog to a self hosted WordPress blog. One of the many reasons I never thought of having a self hosted one was, I failed to keep writing even though I enjoyed it.  Also, I didn’t want to take the trouble of moving 161 posts, 316 comments from one platform to another.

I tried to do it and hosted the blog on Amazon Web Services by using their free tier account. This made me host my blog for free of cost, but I had to pay for the domain name. So I stopped the process there. Few weeks back, when I joined the blogchatter community, I was encouraged to write more and hence the search for self-hosting.

My search ended at hostmyblog.co founded by Rajendra Zore. A tailor-made and economical solution for bloggers. I chose them and my blog was on anilkulkarni.com in less than 3 hours after I made the payment. I only paid INR 1500/- for one year service which includes a domain name, 5GB space, Unlimited Bandwidth and Email account. Their ‘Proficient plan’  worked out well for me. Here are other features:

• This plan does not give you a Cpanel, but excellent support team for technical issues.
• An email containing your email account credentials and SMTP details.
• You will also get FTP access to your space.
• Excellent support team available for any issues you face.
• Blog migration service and also setting up redirection.

Five Star Service

The Five Star service that I experienced was the Blog migration from my blogger blog to WordPress. For people who are technically sound this might not be a big process, but having that include in their package was blessing in disguise. I was chatting with them on their website, paid the money and with an hour my online presence was established at anilkulkarni.com
